Hulimavu lake breach: BPL families to get Rs.50,000 compensation

Bengaluru: The BBMP has announced Rs.50,000 compensation each to the 319 economically weaker sections who were affected by the recent Hulimavu lake breach incident.

BBMP commissioner BH Anil Kumar announced this amount. Only those families who are below Below Poverty Line will get this compensation, he clarified.

According to the preliminary survey, a total of 630 houses are damaged in the lake breach incident. The state government released Rs.78 lakhs to the BBMP to take up the relief and rehabilitation works.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa visited the affected areas on Tuesday evening amid hectic by-election campaigning. Speaking here, he stated that the state government will remove all the lakeside encroachments soon to avoid this kind of incidents in future.
