Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that if he had completed the five year tenure as CM, then the entire nation would have turned to Karnataka.
Addressing a gathering at Dasarahalli assembly constituency he said that his hands were tied as a CM. “I was at the mercy of others. I was a CM backed by the Congress and I hardly had any freedom to decide on my own.
But, having said that I firmly believe that if I had a chance to complete the five-year term, I would have changed the face of the state,” said the former CM adding that a particular Congress leader used to throw documents in front of him and try to dictate terms on him.
He further said that there is no dearth of funds in the state, while there is a shortage of people to work sincerely for the cause of the people.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and BJP, HDK said that BSY has been saying that he is scared of the investigations, the IT, ED and the CBI. “I am scared of none. If the officials of the IT, ED or the CBI come to my house, there is nothing that I should be hiding. I would rather ask these agencies to raid the houses of BJP leaders,” he said.
Later, launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Kumaraswamy said that the BJP claimed that the demonetisation was done to root out corruption and black money. It then introduced Rs 2000 face value notes, which has now helped the corrupt in a very big way.
Stating that everyone knows what is happening to business setups in the country off-late, he said that the GST has unleashed havoc on industries. “Several lakhs of people have been rendered jobless. The textile industry has thrown out at least 5 lakh people. Showrooms are shutting down,” he said holding the faulty policies of the centre responsible for the same.
