Bengaluru: Amid arguments and counter-arguments over the Anti-Conversion Bill, the data shows that SC/ST communities, which are considered as vulnerable for conversation still facing atrocities.
In the last four years as many as 7,133 cases under the SC/ST Atrocities Act have been registered. The data was shared by Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojari in reply to a question raised by BJP MLC Tejaswini Gowda.
As many as 1,852 cases among them were related to the SC/ST women.
In this period 20 complaints related to untouchability have also been reported. A highest number of complaints were from Koppala (13) followed by Chikkamagaluru District (5). A complaint each is reported from Yadagiri and Raichur districts.
