Bengaluru: The hands of a Bihar native, who was left brain dead after a tragic accident on November 15, were donated by his family to be transplanted on a man who lost his in a crusher accident in Puducherry.
Such a procedure has been done for the first time in Karnataka. The hands of the youth were stored in a chemical solution and wrapped in ice slush. They were then transported from Bengaluru to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, 300km on Monday.
Apart from his hands, his parents also agreed to donate his heart, liver, kidneys, eyes and heart valves, which have reportedly been sent to various other hospitals to save others’ lives.
