Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will take part in a virtual meeting with legal experts, ministers, and officials on Saturday January 22 to discuss inter-state water dispute cases.
This is in response to the Opposition Congress’s padayatra demanding the implementation of the Mekedatu project, which will help Bengaluru and other cities get drinking water and generate electricity.
However, the Congress is planning to resume the padayatra from Ramanagara at a later date, after it was postponed due to an increase in Covid cases across the State and pressure from party officials.
Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J. C. Madhu Swamy, Advocate-General of Karnataka, Chief Secretary, officials from the water resources department, senior Supreme Court advocates such as Shyam Dewan, Mohan V. Katharaki, and V. N. Raghupathi, as well as managing directors of various Jal Nigams in Karnataka and coordinators of interstate water dispute cases are expected to attend the meeting.
