Bengaluru: Renowned human rights activist, Irom Chanu Sharmila delivered twins on Mother’s Day at a private hospital in the city. According to hospital sources, they are girls.
Sharmila (46), who is known as the Iron Lady of North East India after her struggle for human rights, and her British husband Desmond Coutinho have been staying in the city for the past 35 weeks.
The twins have been named Nix Shakhi and Autumn Tara. Nix Shakhi weighed 2.16 kgs and Autumn Tara weighed 2.14 kg at the time of their birth.
