Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar on Thursday demanded the state government to withdraw cases against Mahadayi agitators without any preconditions.
Speaking with media persons, Jagadish Shettar said the police have registered cases against the farmers for demanding the government to implement Kalasa Banduri project aimed for supplying drinking water to North Karantaka. “The innocent farmers are made to present before the court. I want the government to withdraw cases against such farmers immediately. The police have registered false cases against 187 farmers during the agitation. I want the state government to withdraw all these cases,’’ Jagadish Shettar said.
He demanded the state government to make senior police officer Raghavendra Auradkar’s report public. It may be recalled the state government had directed Raghavendra Auradkar to probe police atrocities on farmers and villagers during Kalasa Banduri agitation and submit a report.
