Bengaluru: Schools and colleges in Bengaluru will resume classes on Monday January 31, as the State government led by Basavaraj Bommai continues to ease restrictions due to low hospitalisation rates despite a high Covid – 19 caseload in the State.

Weekend curfews have already been lifted by the State Government, and night movement restrictions, as well as other constraints on occupancy in commercial establishments such as hotels, pubs, clubs, and other places, will be lifted as of Monday night.

However, the restrictions of 50 per cent occupancy continued on cinema halls, malls, swimming pools and a few other spaces.

“I have provided many facilities for them (movie industry) as a Home Minister and Chief Minister. After seeking suggestions from the expert committee on their demands, a suitable decision will be taken,” said CM Bommai.

Minister for Health, Family welfare and Medical Education Dr. K. Sudhakar, claimed on Sunday that the State’s political opposition was making false allegations on Covid management.

He went on to say that the State’s vaccination coverage was the key cause for the low hospitalisation rate. He also claimed that the State had achieved 100 per cent coverage in the first dose and 87.6 per cent coverage in the second.
