Bengaluru: Jana Samanyara Vedike on Sunday extended support to farmers from North Karantaka who have been staging a dharna in front of State BJP office in Bengaluru demanding B.S. Yeddyurappa make his stand clear on Kalasa Banduri and Mahadayi water dispute.
After visiting farmers, who are agitating since Saturday, Jana Samanyara Vedike president Dr. Ayyappa has assured not only moral support to the farmers but also to bear the cost of food and other facilities.
A group of farmers and activists under the leadership of Dr Ayyappa staged dharna in New Delhi recently demanding the Central Government to find a solution to Kalasa Banduri and Mahadayi river water dispute.
Speaking at the venue where farmers are agitating, Dr Ayyappa said the farmers are like his family members. “It is unfortunate political parties politicizing the farmers’ agitation demanding drinking water. The farmers from North Karnataka have come to Bengaluru to continue the agitation. They are continuing the agitation on the road. We have decided to extend all assistance to the agitating farmers. Our objective is to extend support to agitations meant for public welfare,’’ Dr. Ayyappa said.
He said the Jana Samanyara Vedike has committed to extend financial and other assistance to the farmers as long as they continue the agitation in Bengaluru.
