Bengaluru: The State BJP unit is all set to welcome former MLA and MP Jayaprakash Hegde, and independent MLA from Kundapur, Halady Srinivas Shetty into its fold.
According to sources, both Hegde and Halady met BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa and had separate discussions with him in Bengaluru at his residence in Dollars Colony. It is gathered that Hegde, accompanied by state general secretary of the party, Shobha Karandlaje, and former deputy chief minister, R Ashok met Yedyurappa on Friday night, November 18. Halady too had a separate meeting with Yeddyurappa in the presence of C T Ravi.
Hegde might officially join the BJP at the unity convention of backward communities being held by BJP on November 27, claimed sources. National BJP president Amit Shah is expected for the event.
Halady who had left BJP in the past has decided to join them again. He will be making an official decision soon.
Sources said that while Halady is BJP’s candidate from Kundapur for legislative assembly, Hegde might be made the Lok Sabha candidate of BJP during the next election if Shobha Karandlaje resigns her Lok Sabha seat to fight the assembly elections.
