Bengaluru: Janata Dal (Secular) Members of Legislative Council on Friday staged dharna in front of Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanvir Sait demanding his resignation for watching obscene pictures while participating in Tipu Jayanti celebrations at Raichur on Thursday. The agitators locked the door of Minister Tanvir Sait’s office at Vidhana Soudha.

Speaking to media persons, Basavaraj Horatti, MLC, said that Minister Tanvir Sait should resign on moral grounds for watching obscene pictures on his mobile phone during Tipu Jayanti celebrations. “The JD(S) activists will organize protest across the state if Minister Tanvir Sait failed to resign from the Cabinet,” Horatti said.

He said that nothing has been done for the welfare of teachers working on contract basis after Tanvir Sait becoming the minister and Ajay Sait as the Principal Secretary. “There is nothing to revel about the improvement in the education department after Tanvir Sait becoming the minister,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, MLC S Puttannaiah demanded the resignation of Tanvir Sait. “Siddaramaiah had demanded the resignations of BJP ministers for allegedly watching obscene pictures during Assembly session. Now, I want Siddaramaiah to sack Minister Tanvir Sait from the Cabinet for watching obscene pictures on WhatsApp during the celebrations of Tipu Jayanti,” he said.

T A Saravana, MLC, demanded the resignation of Tanvir Sair for bringing disgrace to the pose of minister of primary and secondary education. “I want to condemn Tanvir Sait for disgraceful behaviour. He has forgotten about his status as a minister. I demand Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Tanvir Sait from the Cabinet,” he said.
