Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislature’s first session of the year is set to begin on January 28 and will continue for seven days (till February 5). The joint session will begin with an address from Governor Vajubhai Vala.

This will also be the first time that the session is held after the Karnataka Cabinet was expanded and reshuffled.

It is expected that the session will be a stormy one as it is likely that the Opposition will corner the BJP-led state government on several different issues like its functioning, handling of the Covid crisis in the state, flood relief, economy, the ongoing farmer’s agitation, and the contentious anti-cow slaughter law, among others.

Speaking to the media ahead of the session, on Wednesday, Speaker of the Assembly Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said that new bills that were listed by the government and those bills that have been pending since the previous session, will be taken up during the joint session.
