Bengaluru: State Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar has announced that from Monday, November 11 onwards the election Model Code of Conduct will be in force in 15 Assembly constituencies.
Addressing the media on Sunday, November 10, he said, “The election Model Code of Conduct will only be implemented in the constituencies where the by-polls will be held, rather than the entire district. The decision of restricting the code of conduct only to the assembly constituencies is taken keeping in mind the development projects that are already underway in the districts.”
Explaining about the voting process Sanjeev Kumar said, “We will be installing M-3 version of EVMs (equipped with tamper proof mechanism) in the polling booths this time, which were first used in the 2018 Assembly election in Bengaluru Central constituency.”
Meanwhile, he said that till date 28 candidates had filed their nominations of which all were accepted.
“The candidates have time till November 18 to file their nominations”, he said.
Around 15 Assembly constituencies will witness by-polls on December 5 and the counting process will be on December 9. The sitting MLAs of these constituencies had stepped down revolting against the coalition government, thereby toppling the government making way for the BS Yediyurappa government to come to power.
