Bengaluru: One seat in Rajya Sabha was left vacant after K C Ramamurthy, who was elected from the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, resigned and quit the Congress party on October 16. Now, the Karnataka Legislative Assembly has released a notification of dates for nomination filing, rectification, last date, election and counting.

According to the notification released on Monday, November 25, the last date to file the nomination is December 2. December 3 is the day to rectify filed nominations and to withdraw the same and December 5 will be the last date for the nomination procedure. The polling will be held on December 12 from 9 AM to 4 PM and the counting process will be carried out on the same day.
The electoral procedures will be completed by December 16.
Former police officer K C Ramamurthy had resigned from the post of MP, as well as quit as a member of the Congress party, on October 16. Later, he joined the BJP.
Reports suggest that he will be contesting in the upcoming elections on the BJP’s ticket.
