Bengaluru: In Gauribidanur, around 80 kilometres from Bengaluru, India’s first official beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) medical drone delivery experiment is set to begin this week.

While a partnership of companies led by Bengaluru’s Throttle Aerospace Systems (TAS) received authorisation from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for item delivery experiments as early as March 2020, the pandemic had caused delays in various other agency permits.

After obtaining the necessary clearances, the company will commence the first batch of trials on June 18 for a period of 30 – 45 days. Dr. Devi Shetty, a well-known heart surgeon, has endorsed the trials, and Narayana Health will collaborate by providing medicines for trial transportation.
