Bengaluru: Police sources have claimed that the bullet-ridden body found by the Belagavi police on October 18 is not that of the person who killed writer and rationalist Kalburgi.
The body of the man, was found by villagers at Manakawadi in Khanapur district on October 18, with two bullet injuries — one on the chest and another in the abdomen and they had reported the matter to the local police.
The police had circulated the photograph of the deceased to identify him and later buried him after no one came forward to claim the body. It is during this time that a section of people found striking resemblance between the murderer’s sketch released by the police and the deceased man.
Dr Kalburgi was shot dead at his residence inn Dharwad on August 30 by an unidentified youth.
