Bengaluru: Following the footsteps of renowned litterateurs in returning honours and awards bestowed on them as a token of expressing their displeasure towards the government’s “silence on the recent intolerance” and its lax attitude in nabbing the murderers of scholar MM Kalburgi, a journalist today declared that he would soon be returning his award.
Journalist Chikkapanahalli Shanmukha has decided to return an award he received in 2006.
Stating that he was returning his award bearing moral responsibility, Shanmukha added that the government has failed miserably in solving the case.
With the clamor to make the investigation process stricter across the country, the government has come now under tremendous pressure and scrutiny.
