Karnataka aims to increase forest cover in the State: Minister Katti

Bengaluru: Forest Minister Umesh Katti on Saturday October 2 stated that the forest department is taking steps to being 30 per cent of Karnataka’s geographical area under forest cover.

He was speaking at the 67th Wildlife week celebration held here. Katti said that the State currently has 20.11 per cent of its geographical area under the forest cover. He added that the government has been planning various programmes in this regard.

Minister stated that it is important to educate the people about the importance of wildlife conservation and forest. If we protect forest, it will protect us in the future, he said.
