Bengaluru:  The ruling BJP in Karnataka has taken all precautions and preparations to ensure that not a single vote goes invalid in the Presidential election which is underway here on Monday.

All 121 MLA’s from the BJP, stationed in a private hotel for the past two days are being given special training in this regard. A special care has been taken as 17 votes turned out to be invalid in the last Presidential elections.

Initially, the training was given to Minister for Energy V. Sunil Kumar, National General Secretary and BJP MLA C. T. Ravi, and MLA Abhay Patil. In turn, they gave training to all legislators. Mock voting was also conducted for MLAs, say party sources.

The BJP legislators arrived at the Vidhana Soudha in buses from the private luxury hotel, flaunting saffron shawls to cast their votes. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai joined them at the luxury hotel and had breakfast with the MLAs.

JD (S), which has a strength of about 30 MLAs in Karnataka Legislative Assembly, two in Kerala Legislative Assembly and one Lok Sabha seat has pledged its support to NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Opposition Congress’ 67 MLAs will support UPA candidate Yashwanth Sinha.
