Bengaluru: The State Government received as many as 6,210 nominations for the Karnataka Rayotsava award through Seva Sindhu web portal.
This year, the State Government has allowed public nominations for the Rajyotsava awards in line with the Padma Shri awards. October 15 was the last date for the nomination submission.
Last year 1,114 applications were received for the Rajyotsava awards.
With the idea of selecting unsung heroes for the award, the State Government had invited nominations through the web portal.
“As the public were allowed to submit nominations, we received a good number of applications,” informed V. Sunil Kumar, Minister for Kannada and Culture.
