Karnataka to be on path of development after next polls: Modi

Bengaluru: Expressing confidence over his BJP winning the Karnataka assembly elections in 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the state would be on the “path of development” after the polls, and that the people do not have faith in Congress anymore.

“It seems like people of Karnataka are not ready to wait for the state polls any longer. Like other states in the country, Karnataka too wants to be on the path of development,” Modi said addressing a gathering of the Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries outside the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd airport here.

“After the next polls, I am confident that Karnataka will also be on the path of development.”

The country “no longer has faith” in Congress, Modi said, accusing the party of “insulting Indian soldiers”.

He said the Congress was using the “language of separatists in Jammu and Kashmir” after party leader P. Chidambaram said the “demand for greater autonomy in the troubled state” should be considered.

“I want to ask the residents of Bengaluru, can such people, who play politics on the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, do good for the country?.

“It seemed that after repeated defeats, some intellectual people in the party would put Congress back on the right path. But it seems like the Congress does not want to learn from its mistakes, because people usually learn from their mistakes,” Modi said.

Modi is on a one-day visit to the southern state to take part in several public events in Ujire town, state capital Bengaluru and Bidar.
