Bengaluru: The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA), the premier association of MSMEs plans felicitations to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday in Bengaluru.

“We are thankful to the chief minister for conceding all our demands and making suitable provisions in the State Budget to benefit Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state,’’ KASSIA president R Hanumanthe Gowda told reporters here on Thursday.

Gowda said Karnataka is the first state in the country to encourage the MSMEs by creating a conducive atmosphere.

“The state government has established a separate directorate for the MSMEs. It has been allotting land up to two acres on a 10-year lease-cum-sale basis to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs),’’ KASSIA president said.

He said the KASSIA appreciates and thanks the chief minister for extending loans to woman entrepreneurs for up to Rs 2 crore at 4 per cent interest through the Karnataka State Finance Corporation (KSFC). “We are thankful to the chief minister for granting Rs 5-crore KASSIA Center of Excellence,’’ he said.

The state government has also made a special provision for entrepreneurs belonging to the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe for setting up small enterprises.

“In the background of having included the above in the State Budget 2017-18 for the benefit of the MSMEs, the KASSIA is organising the felicitation programme to honour the chief minister,’’ he said.

According to T.S. Umashankar, general secretary, KASSIA, the felicitation function would give the association of MSMEs an opportunity to make further submissions on other pressing issues which need to be addressed to improve the growth of the MSMEs in the state.

The demands:

Basic infrastructure in the industrial estates and their upgradation as required, especially in private industrial areas and mofussil areas.
Extension of the Kar Samadhan Scheme to three months from one month.
Adoption of the concept of townships in the industrial estates or areas by the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) and Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
Downward revision of property tax in Panchayat area with immediate effect since it is more than 20 per cent as against five per cent in BBMP limits.
Representation to KASSIA on the KIADB and the KSFC boards.
Representation to the MSME sector in the Legislative Council.
Simplification of 109 Section within 30 days from the date of application.
Vendor Development and Investor Summit 2017

The state government will organize a two-day Vendor Development and Investor Summit 2017 on November 23 and 24 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in partnership with CII and KASSIA.

“We thank the chief minister for giving us the opportunity to partner in organising the Vendor Development and Investor Summit for the MSMEs involving the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) units and large industries. We are sure this will give a new fillip to the growth in investments by the MSME sector in the state,’’ Umashankar said.

The KASSIA will be organising road shows throughout the state to invite the MSMEs to participate in the summit. “We will be organising roadshows in 17 districts. We have already started the work to ensure 300 MSMEs participate in the event. More than 150 MSMEs have confirmed their participation. This will be a major event which is expected to help the MSMEs in the state,’’ he said.
