Madikeri: A cultural and sport fest will be organised jointly by Kodava Sahitya Academy and Kodava Samajagala Okkuta on November 6.
Disclosing the information, Kodava Sahitya Academy president, Biddathanda S Thammiah said that a four-day cultural and sport fest under the banner ‘Kodava Namme’ has been organized where traditional cultural and sport events between various Kodava communities will be held. The cultural events include Kolat, Bolakat, Kattiyat, Pareyakali, Kappeyat, Baalopaat, Taalipat, Sambandha Adkovo and Ummathat.
Kodava Samaja Okkuta president, Kallichanda Vishnu Cariappa said the events have been organized to showcase the Kodava art and culture and called on the entire Kodava community to support the program wholeheartedly.
He also said the event will cost around Rs 13-15 lakhs and 5000 people are likely to take part in the four day event starting on November 3 with grand finale on the last day, November 6.
In the hockey Knock out tournament, 14 teams will participate with the finals slated for November 6.
To ensure Kodava Namme’s success, different sports, culture, cleanliness, food and security sub-committees have been formed, confirmed K V Cariappa.
Many members from Cultural committee and organizing committee were present on the occasion.
