Kolar: Former Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said that it was Siddaramaiah who was instrumental in reviving the loss-making Kolar DCC Bank, which enabled women to get interest-free loans.
In all, Rs. 360 Crore of Farmers’ loans have been waived off in Kolar District. As many as 6.42 lakh women have got loans from the bank. As a result, they have become self-reliant in small businesses in dairy farming, he said. He added that a programme to pay gratitude for this has been organised at Vemagal.
He was speaking at a women’s convention organised in the presence of Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vemagal Stadium in the Taluk.
“Cooking gas was available at Rs. 400 and now it has been raised to Rs. 1100, the Central Government has imposed a tax on all food items, including poha. The Centre’s stand is that all Indians should work and only Ambani and Adani should become rich. They are taxing the poor to reduce the taxes of the rich,” he said.
