Bengaluru: The Congress party’s state unit of the women’s wing has done the unthinkable. Newly elected president of the women’s wing Pushpa Amaranath has proposed a dress code for the party workers.
According to the party insiders, in a memo sent to all the women’s wing office-bearers, Pushpa Amaranath, who is also the former president of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, has banned the use of lipstick and thick makeup. Short skirts are also banned in the party meetings and the events.
According to the sources, Pushpa who will assume office on November 19, wants all the party workers to wear only dark saree with blouse covering neck.
“It is really a sad development. How come a party which is known for propagating liberal values impose a dress code”, asked an office-bearer who wished to be unnamed.
