Bengaluru: The Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS) has demanded a probe into substandard construction of Peenya flyover.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, KRS State President Ravi Krishna Reddy stated hat the flyover between Goraguntepalya and 8th Mile was built just 12 years ago and is now declared unsafe by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Reddy urged the State Government to bring this matter to the notice of the Centre for a thorough probe. The KRS also demanded that the companies involved in the works of flyover should be blacklisted and criminal cases should be filed against them.
The KRS pointed out that substandard flyover work has not only resulted in wastage of resources to the tune of crores of rupees but also huge environmental damage. They also demanded National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to return toll collected from highway users despite highway closure.
