Bengaluru: With the Government imposing restrictions on public over Christmas celebrations, the festive spirit in the State has been dampened for the second year in a row.
However, tradition celebrations were held at the Churches and various parts of the City abiding to the Covid – 19 guidelines issued by the Government.
Due to an increase of Omicron cases, the restrictions will be in place until the New Year.
“Restrictions will remain in place from December 30 to January 2. All public gatherings, such as those on MG Road and Brigade Road to welcome the New Year, will be banned,” said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He also announced that no public celebrations or special events will be held in any part of the State.
Clubs and restaurants will function at half-capacity. DJ events and New Year celebrations, on the other hand, will not be permitted.
CM Bommai also informed that but churches would be able to hold prayer meetings as per the Covid-19 guidelines.
It should also be noted that recent events over the Anti-Conversion Bill have sparked unrest in many parts of the State, with right-wing activists and other groups disrupting Christmas celebrations and vandalising religious places.
