Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai rejected the request to hike the milk price from Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) after facing backlash from various quarters due to skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.
KMF chairman and Arabhavi MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi had cited the pressure of inflation on farmers and requested the chief minister to consider the Federation’s proposal to hike the price.
It can be recalled that milk prices were last hiked by Rs. 2 per litre in January 2020. According to reports, the KMF had sought the government’s nod to hike the milk prices by up to Rs 3.
On Wednesday September 29 CM Bommai said that he is aware of the situation and about the rates in different States but stated that it is a difficult situation to take any decision as various factors had to be taken into account.
