K’taka decides to ban clothes that disturb public order, equality

Bengaluru: In a bid to end the hijab row across the State, the State Government on Saturday February 5 has ordered banning of wearing clothes that disturb equality, integrity and public order.

The Government order issued has stated, “Invoking 133 (2) of the Karnataka Education Act – 1983 which says a uniform style of clothes has to be worn compulsorily.” The order further adds that private school administration can choose a uniform of their choice.

Further, the order instructs students to wear the dress chosen by the College Development Committee or the Appellate Committee of the Administrative Board of the Pre-University Colleges of PU Education Department.
