Bengaluru: Even though the State Government had stated earlier this year that Covid – 19 vaccination will be completed by the end of the year, data shows that this goal is yet to be achieved.

In August, Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar had said that the government’s goal is to completely vaccinate the entire eligible population by the end of December.

With the year-end nearing, the data shows that first dose coverage was at 96.89 per cent while second dose coverage was at 75.96 per cent on Saturday December 25.

Approximately 3.1 per cent of the population has not been vaccinated. There are 1.34 lakh healthcare workers and 54.1 lakh people between the ages of 18 and 44 among them. Meanwhile, officials from the district confirmed that vaccine hesitation is still a growing concern.

“After we started the door-to-door campaign, the coverage has increased. However, in the next 1-2 months, we should be able to reach 100 per cent double-dose coverage. In terms of stock, we have roughly 63.87 lakh doses in inventory, with about 57 lakh doses in districts,” he said.
