Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Monday December 6 that the State Government has been constantly monitoring the Covid – 19 situation and will make decisions on enacting more containment measures after consulting experts.

The Karnataka Government has announced a number of preventive measures on Friday December 3 including mandatory two-dose vaccination for anyone entering malls, cinema halls, or theatres, as well as parents of school or college children students. A move in this regard has come owing to the two cases of Omicron variant and new clusters formed in the State.

CM Bommai said that, “All of the advice will be presented to the expert committee, and depending on the Omicron and Delta variants spread in the coming days and clusters that are forming, we will seek the advice of the experts and make an appropriate decision.”

He also said that all of the Bengaluru doctor’s primary and secondary contacts who tested positive for Omicron have been identified, and they are all asymptomatic. Genomic sequencing test reports for a few of his contacts who tested positive for Covid are pending. “The government had given guidelines for cluster management,” he added.

”A cluster has emerged (at a residential school), all students have been checked, their primary and secondary contacts have also been tested and it (school) has been sealed down. We are providing treatment to those infected,” he said. He went on to say that the government is prepared in every way and is gathering timely information from experts regarding the spread and effects of the infection, and accordingly preparations are on to provide treatment.
