K’taka Govt opens Help Desk to assist stranded people in Uttarakhand

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has set up a Help Desk to assist stranded persons from the State in various places in flood-hit Uttarakhand.

According to Revenue Minister R. Ashoka, people who are stranded or relatives of those who are stranded can contact the Help Desk and provide information that will be sent to Uttarakhand authorities for rapid action and response.

As per the official statement, “The Karnataka State Emergency Operation Center’s telephone numbers are 080-1070 (toll-free) and 080 – 2234 0676. These phones are available to receive any distress calls and will be operational 24×7.”

On Tuesday October 19, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the State’s continuous rain has claimed the lives of 34 people so far, with five still missing.

According to the State Disaster Management Secretary, Uttarakhand has received more than 200mm of rain in the previous 24 hours.
