Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that Karnataka will lower both fuel prices by another Rs. 7. An announcement in this regard was made within a few hours after the Union Government reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 per litre, respectively. Now, the price of petrol in Karnataka is expected to be Rs. 95.5 and diesel at Rs 81.5 per litre.
The State Government will suffer a revenue loss of Rs. 2,100 crore as a result of this. According to CM Bommai, the new prices will go into effect on the evening of Thursday November 4. He tweeted, “This will be the Deepawali gift from the State and Union Governments.”
Petrol and diesel prices exceeded Rs. 100 a few weeks ago. The Opposition Congress had taken up the issue, protesting both inside and outside Vidhana Soudha. During the Assembly session, Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar mocked the government by riding a bullock cart to Vidhana Soudha.
