Bengaluru: The State Government is planning to establish a ‘model school’ in every Gram Panchayat by merging local schools, where the number of new admissions is currently in single digits, in order to attract more students to State-run schools.
In such low-enrollment schools, both teaching and non-teaching staff will be incorporated into the proposed model schools.
“We want to make sure that youngsters receive a good education. Thousands of schools across the State have very few students. The shortage of teachers is also another problem. This is not a sustainable model,” said Minister of Primary and Secondary Education B. C. Nagesh.
He further informed that there will be a better focus on academic performance if we merge such institutions into a ‘model’ school.
