Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Friday May 20 that his government has decided to issue free bus passes to children from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
He was speaking after chairing a meeting of the SC-ST Development Council, in which the SC-ST sub-plan for 2022-23 was approved.
“The government has set aside Rs. 20 Crore for distribution in Karnataka, where Dr. B. R. Ambedkar had visited, and that a scheme to provide free bus passes to SC/ST children will be implemented soon,” said.
“I have asked officials to ensure that funds allocated to the SC-ST sub-plan are used purely for the SC/SC community,” he added.
