Bengaluru: The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board has declared that the syllabus for SSLC students will be reduced for the academic year 2021-22.

According to the sources, the department has been considering reducing it by 20 per cent since Class 10 students are falling behind in completing the syllabus, which is crucial for their upcoming board exams.

In a day or two, a formal announcement will be made in this regard.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister B. C. Nagesh informed that during his visit to schools, as well as in meetings in several districts, teachers had expressed concern that they are unable to complete the syllabus due to limited academic hours imposed by the Covid pandemic restrictions. As a result, it has been decided to cut the syllabus by 20 per cent. “The Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) will notify the reduction in the syllabus to the respective District officials in the coming days,” he added.

The decision to reduce the syllabus by 20 per cent will help the department in holding board exams in April.
