Bengaluru: Deputy Commissioners of the rain-hit districts in the State have been instructed to declare two-day holiday for students of class I to X in the schools of their respective districts upon their discretion based on the rain situation in the districts. The instruction was given by Dr. Vishal, Commissioner, Department of Public Instructions in a circular dated Thursday November 18.
Meanwhile, the districts Tumakuru, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Ramanagara and Kolar have declared two-day holiday for schools while Bengaluru City has declared a daylong holiday. Alert has been issued for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada Districts too.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has called for urgent meeting of all the Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers to discuss on precautions to be taken in the wake of heavy rains in 13 districts of the State as predicted by Indian Meteorological Department. The meeting will be held on Friday November 19 at 1.00 pm
