Bengaluru: Two days after CM’s approval to hold the event the iconic Lalbhag Republic Day flower show was cancelled.
According to the sources, The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) denied permission for the show. Instead, it suggested a mega flower show in August 2021 to mark Independence Day.
The flower show at Lalbhag is one of the biggest attractions in the city which draws lakhs of people. The Horticulture department along with the participants choose a unique theme for each year’s show.
Earlier on January 13 CM had approved the proposal by the horticulture department. It was decided to hold a show offering floral tributes to the Corona warriors. A floral tribute was expected to be the highlight of the show.
The BBMP officials expressed concerns that the show may cause cluster outbreak of the Covid 19 infection as the virus still around us.
