Bengaluru: Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao’s son Y Ashwin and former PRO of Lokayukta Syed Riyaz, accused in the Lokayukta bribery case, got into a verbal fight in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Saturday.
Prison Department sources said that Ashwin and Riyaz, who are in judicial custody, got into a verbal duel during breakfast time which led to a fisticuffs.
“Around 8.30 am, Riyaz picked a quarrel with Ashwin saying that he wanted to celebrate Bakrid with his family, but he could not do so, as he had landed in trouble because of Ashwin,” prison sources said.
They added that the two exchanged blows and even tore each others’ clothes in the process. The prison staff had to intervene and separate them, the sources added.
It might be recalled that on August 8, journalist M B Srinivasa Gowda and his associate Shankare Gowda, both of whom are also arrested in the bribery case, had quarrelled for each having given different statements before the SIT officials during interrogation.
They were put in the same barracks after they were remanded to judicial custody on July 31.
