Lokayukta case: Bhaskar’s aide tries fleeing to Sri Lanka, held

Bengaluru: Hotte Krishna, a close aide of V Bhaskar alias 420 Bhaskar and another accused in the Lokayukta bribe case has been arrested by the officials of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The number of arrests in this corruption watchdog bribe case have increased up to 11.

Krishna, who was absconding when SIT started probing the special case was nabbed at Chennai International Airport.

Police officials told sources that the accused was in a bid to flee to Sri Lanka. On getting reliable information that he was going to Chennai airport on Saturday, police swung into action and arrested him at the airport on the same day night. He has been brought to the city and sent for medical checkup at Bowring hospital.

The accused was produced before the Lokayukta Special Court Judge V G Bopaiah.
 
The police requested the judge to remand him to police custody as he was very close to accused Bhaskar and knew some important information about the syndicate that run the extortion racket. The judge then remanded him to police custody till August 29.
 
It is said that Krishna used to get information about BDA officials through RTI and had an active role in the extortion syndicate. The accused arrested in the case earlier had revealed to the SIT about Krishna’s involvement in the racket.
