Hosakote: Now that the by-polls are only a week away, scenes of politicians trying to win the hearts of the electorates are becoming more common, especially in rural areas. They have been gifting sarees, cookers, laptops, cash etc. to the voters. But the ‘high voltage’ constituency of Hosakote is witnessing a major ‘exhibition’ of wealth by the Congress, BJP and independent candidates.
While the election commission reports have revealed that independent candidate Sharath Bachegowda, Congress candidate Padmavathi Suresh and BJP candidate M T B Nagaraj are ‘crorepatis’, the latter has actually revealed this by his actions, as he has decided to give away 1 lakh gold rings to his constituents.
According to Nagaraj’s close associates, the disqualified MLA has decided to give one five-gram gold ring to each family in his constituency, spending around Rs 100 crores on the same.
On social media platforms, it is being said that the rings will be delivered to the doorsteps of each family.
A resident of the Hosakote segment has said that Nagaraj was spending at least Rs 30 crores per day for his campaign and has simultaneously slammed the Election Commission of India (ECI) for neglecting such ‘political stunts’.
According to sources, M T B Nagaraj is said to be worth over Rs 1200 crores.
