Bengaluru: In a first of its kind initiative in the country, the BBMP has provided reservation to women even in parking. Henceforth in all the traffic lots of the city, vehicles operated by women must be given 20% parking space.
The BBMP launched this ambitious project on a pilot basis on Sunday at the prestigious Brigade road of the city. Under this pilot scheme, out of 22 vehicle parking lots available on both sides of the Brigade road, 9 have been reserved for the cars driven by women.
Launching the pilot project, BBMP mayor Sampath Raj informed that this is another feather in the cap of Bengaluru city. “We have decided to issue a circular making 20% reservation for cars/ bikes operated by women mandatory in all the parking lots,” he said.
