Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of Anil and Uday who were drowned at Thippagondanahalli reservoir during the climax shooting of Kannada film Mastigudi.
Speaking at state film awards function held at Dr Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that people concerned should take precautions to avoid similar tragedies during the shooting of Kannada films in future. “We cannot estimate the value of lives with money. The state government will give Rs 5 lakh each to the families of Anil and Uday,” the chief minister said.
He said the state government would extend subsidy of Rs 10 lakh subsidy to 125 Kannada films as against the current 100 Kannada films. “I want to organise state film award function on April 24, which happens to be Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar’s birthday, every year in future. The state government is ready to extend all help to Kannada films that are aimed to convey message to society on Kannada culture and language,” the chief minister said.
