Bengaluru: The NDRF personnel have finally fished out the body of Uday who went missing after a daredevil stunt gone awry for climax shoot of the Kannada movie Mastigudi on Monday afternoon.
The search was on for Uday and Anil’s body since then. Anil’s body is yet to be found. NDRF team comprising 30 personnel used special equipment called Robocam for the search. The body of Uday which was fished out 48 hours after the mishap was completely bloated, said reports. Sources said body was found 20 meters away from the spot where the mishap took place.
It may be recalled that Anil and Uday attempted a one-of-its-kind stunt in Kannada cinema and had jumped off a helicopter from a height of 100 feet into Thippagondanahalli (TG Halli) reservoir along with the lead actor Duniya Vijay for the climax scene of Kannada movie “Mastigudi”. Soon after the fatal jump, Vijay was rescued by a coracle on stand-by but both Uday and Anil are seen in the video shouting for help and finally disappear into the water. The rescue boat which was arranged had a technical problem which delayed its entry on time.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Mastigudi producer Sundar. Director Nagashekhar and stunt master Ravi Verma who are still absconding have sought bail through lawyers. The postmortem of Uday’s body has already begun and the remains are expected to be handed over to Uday’s relatives.
According to reliable sources, the cremation of Uday would be held on Wednesday evening if Anil’s body was not found by 7 pm. “We are trying to locate the body of Anil. We have engaged swimmers and other experts for the search operations,’’ said Revanna, DIG, Fire and Emergency Services.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Shivarajkumar said the family members of Uday atleast got an opportunity to perform the last rites. “I pray God to give Uday’s family members the strength to bear the loss. I hope Anil’s body is also traced by the swimmers,’’ Shivarajkumar added.
