Bengaluru: Higher Education Minister C. N. Ashwath Narayan has termed the Congress campaign as a “padayatra of lies” intended to mislead the public about the Mekedatu project.
Speaking to mediapersons he said, “Congress cannot implement the project in any way. The project can only be implemented by the BJP. We are men, and we will finish the job in a manly manner.”
The Minister also said that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar and MP D. K. Suresh should reveal their contributions to the district. He accused Shivakumar of accumulating wealth by looting natural resources and claimed, “Shivakumar is not interested in working (as an elected representative).”
In a separate press conference, BJP Chief spokesperson M. G. Mahesh accused the Congress of engaging in “greed politics” by organising the Mekedatu padayatra solely to gain power in the State. He said the march has the potential to become a ‘super spreader.’
The BJP will implement the drinking water project, whereas the Congress has delayed doing so, he said. The project was expedited by the BJP government under B. S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai after the Congress waited five years to complete a Detailed Project Report, Mahesh claimed.
