Bengaluru: Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol on Thursday December 30 stressed the need for conservation of water with a proper regulatory mechanism in place along with potential to bring good revenue to panchayats.
Speaking on the Jal Jivan Mission at the conference of the Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers here at the conference hall of Vidhan Soudha, Karjol mentioned an example of Halagali Village, Mudhol Taluk in Bagalkot District where the water consumption had been regulated and brought down to 5 lakh litres from 15 lakh litres. This regulation has also brought in income of Rs. 10 lakh to the Panchayat, he added.
