Bengaluru: According to sources, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday January 25 has said that small buses are ideal for public transportation within City limits and bringing in more mini-buses for City service should be a top priority.
At a meeting to evaluate the Transport Department’s performance, he has directed officials to provide buses from the department to the organisation that has offered to convert them to CNG buses.
The Chief Minister has also urged that officials undertake an intensive PR effort to raise public knowledge about the department’s 30 online services that are available to the general public.
He instructed officials to review the number of buses operating on existing routes, citing the fact that demand for buses is higher in rural areas.
CM Bommai also asked the officials to report on the expenses involved with bus repairs.
The meeting was attended by Transport Minister B. Sriramulu, Chief Secretary P. Ravikumar, and other top officials.
