Bengaluru: A Right to Information (RTI) activist has created a sensation in the state politics by announcing that he has a tape consisting sex scandal of one of the Cabinet ministers.
The tape alleged that Minister for Excise H Y Meti had allegedly misbehaved with a 24-year-old woman who met him at Skahthi Soudha to seek an official favour. Private TV channels have claimed that one RTI activist Rajasekhar is in the possession of the tape. The TV channels also alleged that Minister Meti and his supporters had allegedly threatened Rajasekhar for releasing the tape to the TV channels. It is alleged that woman was introduced to the minister by his personal assistant. It is also alleged that woman had demanded the minister to pay Rs 15 crore for not making it public but the minister’s supporters had bargained with her to settle the case for Rs 10 to 20 lakh but she did not agree to the proposal.
Meanwhile, Minister Meti had denied the allegations. “I am not aware of any sex tape or racket. I am also not aware of RTI activist Rajasekhar,’’ Meti told the media persons.
Commenting on the issue, Jagadish Shettar, Leader of Opposition, has demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Minister Meti from the Cabinet immediately. “Siddaramaiah has failed to take action against Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait who watched an obscene video while participating in Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations at Raichur. Now, Minister Meti is involved in a sex scam. Siddaramaiah’s government is thick skinned and shameless government. We can’t expect a quick action from this government,’’ Jagadish Shettar said.
However, Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda has refused to comment on the issue. “There are many important issues in the country to discuss and debate. This is not worth to discuss,’’ Deve Gowda said.
