Bengaluru: A video of a heated argument between a traffic cop and the daughter of MLA Aravind Limbavali about speeding and breaking traffic laws on Rajbhavan Road here has gone viral on Thursday June 9.
An ACP from the Traffic Department was making rounds on Queen’s Road when a luxury BMW car passed beyond the speed limit towards Raj Bhavan. The information on the overspeeding car, as well as its number plate, was relayed to the control room by the ACP. Cubbon Park traffic cops stopped the car after receiving this complaint.
Limbavali’s daughter, who was driving the car became enraged with the cops and questioned them for stopping her.
Cops did not heed the threat and conducted a check on the number plate. It was found that the number plate had almost Rs. 9,000 in fines pending. The authorities issued two traffic tickets for speeding and demanded that the woman pay Rs. 10,000 including past dues. The quarrel erupted again when they heard this.
The car was released when all pending traffic fines were paid.
Meanwhile, when the video went viral, Aravind Limbavali issued a statement claiming that his daughter was stopped by the police while travelling in the BMW with her friends. He said that all fines for speeding had been paid and that those who were found guilty should be punished.
