Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday described Narendra Modi-led government as the most corrupt government and demanded Modi tell people whether the crores of rupees spent by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during elections was black money or white money.

Speaking after inaugurating 132nd Foundation Day of Congress here, the chief minister said that Narendra Modi for claiming that demonetization would prevent black money, corruption and fake currency but he could not bring any changes. “Modi government is the corrupt government. He has to tell people about the sources of crores of rupees spent during the elections. He has to tell people from where BJP leaders got such a huge amount,’’ the chief minister said.

Coming down heavily on BJP leader for their double standard, the chief minister said BJP leaders have not fulfilled the assurances given during the parliament elections. “Narendra Modi had assured people during the elections that he would bring black money parked abroad and deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of each citizen. However, Modi did not deposit even 15 paise in the bank accounts of the people. He has betrayed people of this country,’’ the chief minister said.

Stating that Congress was not against to demonetization but lack of preparations before introducing the demonetization of high value currency notes led to the death of more than 100 people and most of them were labourers and middle-class people. “Narendra Modi government is for capitalists and industrialists. Modi has no moral right to talk about corruption. Congress activists have to work hard to give a fitting reply to the communal government at the Centre. I want Congress activists to take the Centre to the task for attempting safronization of education and army,’’ he said.

Congress history is country’s history

The chief minister said that lot of development took place during the regimes of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He said BJP leaders have to realize the development happened during Congress regime. “Congress leaders had sacrificed their lives for the nation and the freedom of this country. I want to know which BJP leader had sacrificed his life for the nation and for the freedom of this country?’’ he said.

He said Congressmen have the mentality to treat all people equally irrespective of caste, religion and creed but BJP leaders have been organising conventions for backward classes. “It shows that BJP leaders have no concern towards minorities in the state. All of us are enjoying the freedom and other benefits due to Congress leaders’ sacrifice for the freedom of this country. Rajiv Gandhi was responsible for 120 crore people out of 125 crore people to have mobile connectivity in the country. Now, Narendra Modi is taking about digitalization but there is nothing new in it,’’ he said.
